BROKE Goes Green!
Welcome to the Green Initiative at BROKE LA!
This year, more than ever, we are aiming to work with our vendors to run our event as sustainably as possible!
We’re encouraging all vendors to reuse and reduce their materials as much as they can and we welcome any ideas or contributions you may have to this initiative. First and foremost we want this event to be a success for all coming on board. Our vendor market is a staple of our festival and has always been an exciting place for businesses to gain exposure via our growing patron base. We grow each year and are expecting 7-10k attendees in 2017.
We understand that running a green operation can be a challenge, which is why we are offering incentives. Extra social media support, BROKE LA swag, and priority notification with reduced vendor fees for upcoming events are some of what will be offered to those who are supportive of these efforts.
Our green initiative incorporates two main components- sustainable materials strategy, and sustainable waste plan strategy. After consulting with sustainability experts we’ve created a list of products to use and avoid when packaging and selling your wares.
For waste generated we will be providing receptacles for landfill, recycling, and organics. Closer to the event we will be sending you more details as to how to use these resources effectively. Our goal is to be as close to a zero waste event as possible!
During the event we will be sending BROKE LA representatives to come around periodically to answer any day of questions you may have and to ensure that everyone is on the same page and following protocol. It will be these representatives who help us decide how to allocate our incentives!
